Traffic committee moves Sand Hills Safety Zone to Select Board

Traffic Rules and Regulations Committee · Meeting of June 30, 2026

Scituate traffic committee backs Sand Hills Safety Zone. The Traffic Rules and Regulations Committee voted unanimously to forward a resident request to designate the Sand Hills Neighborhood as a Safety Zone to the Select Board. Michael Cohen of 79 Marion Road cited Massachusetts General Law Chapter 90, Section 18b in his request, supported by residents Michelle McGarth, Warren Talbot, and Mary Talbot.

Officer Tobey Britton noted that a five mile-per-hour speed reduction would not substantially change driver behavior. The committee deferred a curb cut proposal at 7 Dunbar Lane Rear, citing school zone proximity and sight-line concerns raised by Planning Board Liaison Ann Burbine and Select Board Liaison Nico Afanasenko.
