SCITUATE — The Scituate Select Board voted unanimously to expand Scituate Boat Works' seasonal slip use and launch a Maritime Center art contest. Waterways Chair David Dinneen said the 4-0 vote formalizes roughly 16 slips at the Maritime Marina for staging during two shoulder-season windows, April 15 to May 14 and October 16 to November 14, after Harbormaster Stephen Mone negotiated a fee near $3,000 a month, adding $6,000 in annual town revenue. Chair Susan Harrison called it "truly a staging area," stressing boats cannot be subleased or left unattended.
The board also unanimously accepted $900 in National Night Out donations from Express Towing Inc., Copeland Chevrolet and O'Brien's Car Care & Towing, and approved a "Call to Artists" contest for a new permanent Maritime Center artwork, with submissions due October 15.
