Select Board · Meeting of September 22, 2026

Scituate Select Board approved $5 million in Community Preservation Act funding for Gates Apartments, a 63-unit affordable housing project for seniors that would bring the town to approximately 7 percent affordable housing and safe harbor status against state-mandated regional housing projects. The 4-1 vote, with Clerk Freya Schlegel dissenting over concerns about borrowing and project scope, marks a major advance in the town's affordable housing commitment. The Board also rejected support for a $2.7 million police firearms training facility by 2-3, the second defeat for the proposal.

Separately, the Board unanimously approved a $2.48 million water main replacement contract and authorized an intermunicipal agreement to construct a household hazardous waste facility.
