Scituate shifts FY27 funding to close insurance-driven budget gap

Financial Forecasting Committee · Meeting of March 10, 2026

SCITUATE — The Financial Forecast Committee approved amendments to the FY27 budget forecast to address a $202,344 shortfall. Finance Director Nancy Holt reported the Mayflower Municipal Health Group voted a 10 percent rate increase for FY27, which would obligate over $6 million in reserves. The committee approved deferring the $176,286 annual OPEB Liability contribution to the fall special town meeting and transferring those funds to Contributory Group Insurance.

The vote was unanimous. Town Administrator Jim Boudreau said the town remains within its financial policies.
