Scituate adjusts FY27 forecast; faces $2.4M FEMA deficit in FY28
Financial Forecasting Committee · Meeting of July 23, 2026
Scituate Financial Forecast Committee approves FY27 amendment and faces $2.4M FEMA deficit. The committee unanimously amended the FY27 forecast to support $176,286 in OPEB Liability funding and $123,675 for Workers Compensation, restoring $299,961 in available state aid revenue, Finance Director Nancy Holt said. Town Administrator Jim Boudreau warned that a FEMA Region 1 memo threatens disaster recovery funding, forcing the town to issue an emergency bond anticipation note next week to cover a $2.4 million subsidy deficit for work already completed.
FY28 budget pressures include a potential 10 percent health insurance increase of $745,183 and potential material increases in Plymouth County Retirement Association assessments above 8 percent.
