Scituate Select Board Opens Warrant for $27 Million Low-Interest Sewer Expansion Loan

SCITUATE — March 24, 2026 — Scituate Select Board unanimously opens Town Meeting warrant to pursue $27 million in low-interest state sewer financing. Town Administrator Rob Hudner announced the town has been placed on MassDEP's State Revolving Fund Intended Use Plan for $27 million at approximately 2 percent interest for the North Scituate Sewer Expansion project, calling it "exceptionally good news." The board voted unanimously to add an article to the April 13, 2026 Annual Town Meeting warrant to formally authorize pursuit of the financing, avoiding the $6,000 cost of a separate special town meeting. Hudner also disclosed a $5 million state grant already issued, a $5 million direct appropriation request filed with Representative William Keating's office, and plans to request $10 million each from Senators Markey and Warren. The board separately approved four contracts: a $312,041.42 change order bringing the Water Treatment Plant's total change orders to 1.94 percent of contract value with roughly $1.8 million in contingency remaining; a $1,708,280.94 award to Selco Construction Corporation for Phase 6B water main replacement along Route 3A; a $76,126 salt shed cover replacement with ClearSpan; and a $105,650 beach restroom trailer purchase from NIU Spark Toilets funded entirely from the Beach Revolving Fund.
