Scituate School Committee Unveils Third Redistricting Option, Sets June 22 Last Day

SCITUATE — March 30, 2026 — Scituate School Committee set June 22 as the last day of school and previewed a third redistricting option at its March 30 meeting. Superintendent Dr. Ruff unveiled Option Three of the district's elementary boundary realignment, which keeps planning block seven at Wampatuck, leaves two smaller blocks on Tickner Place and Walnut Street in their current assignments, and adds students from Grove, Maple, and surrounding streets to the new elementary school; full details were posted to the district website March 31 ahead of a public forum set for April 6 at 6 p.m. in the Gates dining commons. The committee voted unanimously to approve a June 5 band and chorus field trip to Canobie Lake Park, a Student Opportunity Act progress report due to the state April 1, and a warrant of $244,928.17. Director of School Counseling and Testing Tammy Rundle reported that Section 504 accommodation referrals had already reached 45 as of December — nearly matching the prior full year's total of 58 — attributing the spike to rising student anxiety and expanded federal eligibility guidance.
