Scituate School Committee unanimously approves $55 million FY27 budget

SCITUATE — February 9, 2026 — Scituate School Committee unanimously approved a $55,029,061 fiscal year 2027 school budget Monday after a brief public call to raise daily substitute teacher pay. Superintendent Tom Rob told the committee he had already briefed the Select Board and Advisory Board on the level-services spending plan and that no substantive questions arose from either body. Retired substitute teacher Richard Aaron addressed the committee during public comment, noting the daily sub rate has held at $110 for at least four years and that an increase "would surely be helpful." Rob acknowledged the issue, saying daily subs are "next on the list" following recent pay corrections for professional staff and substitute nurses, but could not commit to a fix in FY27. The committee also unanimously accepted a $2,520 donation from Cassie and George Tybalt for the iExcel program, and a community redistricting meeting was announced for February 25 at 6 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center.
