Capital Planning reviews $5.5M seawall grant and water system backlog

Capital Planning Committee · Meeting of May 13, 2026

Scituate Capital Planning Committee reviews $5.5M federal seawall grant and $7M water infrastructure backlog. The committee discussed the Turner Lighthouse Road Seawall project, planned for 2029 and funded by a $5.5 million federal grant covering the area north from Jericho Avenue to Scituate Avenue. Water Department Superintendent Eric Langlan reported a deferred watermain replacement authorization of approximately $7 million for roughly six miles of pipe, noting that engineering staffing constraints limit project execution speed.

The committee indicated it would revisit funding levels for water infrastructure going forward.
