Commission endorses $4 million Pier 44 waterfront development
Waterways Commission · Meeting of August 5, 2026
Scituate Waterways Commission backs letter of support for $4 million Pier 44 project. The commission agreed to draft a letter supporting the waterfront development for the Select Board and Advisory Committee ahead of an October 19 Town Meeting vote. The $4 million project, to be completed in 2028, includes 13 parking spaces, universal access features, and a dock for small boats and kayaks, with funding through Community Preservation Committee bonds, state grants, and private foundations.
The commission also addressed marina slip safety concerns, with public comments raising issues about transient boat congestion at Cole Parkway's inner slips; commissioners recommended the Harbormaster resolve the navigation bottleneck and communicate acceptable practices to slip users.
