Scituate Planning Board Continues New Driftway Apartment Hearing to August, Approves Two ADUs
SCITUATE — June 11, 2026 — Scituate Planning Board continues 18-unit apartment proposal at 7 New Driftway, approves two accessory dwelling units. The board unanimously continued the public hearing on a major site review and stormwater permit application from 7 New Driftway LLC, managed by John S. Barry, to August 27, 2026, after identifying open questions on stormwater drainage, total suspended solids treatment, landscaping, lighting, and whether to require updated traffic counts near the Route 3A rotary. The proposed three-story, 18-unit all-one-bedroom rental building would reduce impervious surface on the 54,411-square-foot site from 28,572 square feet to 14,950 square feet — roughly half the existing coverage — and preserve the foundation and first floor of the existing medical office building. Plans must reach the planning office by July 27; the project is simultaneously before the Conservation Commission and will require Zoning Board of Appeals relief. The board separately approved ADU additions at 78 Havelin Road (572 square feet, for owner Cheryl A. Rice) and 82 Rear Elm Street (872 square feet, a pre-existing 40-year-old detached unit owned by Joseph F. and Catherine Glennon), both unanimously.
