SCITUATE — Planning Board approves two accessory dwelling units while continuing gateway redevelopment. The board unanimously approved a 572-square-foot ADU at 78 Hatherly Road for applicant Cheryl A. Rice and a 872-square-foot detached ADU at 82 Elm Street Rear owned by Joseph M. and Katharine Glennon.
Both approvals require restrictive covenants prohibiting short-term rental use and Registry of Deeds recording before occupancy permits are issued. The board continued the major site plan review for John S. Barry's 18-unit multi-family rental project at 7 New Driftway to August 27, 2026, after peer reviewer concerns about stormwater design, garage drainage, and landscaping; Town Planner Karen Joseph noted the project requires Zoning Board relief for multiple overlay districts and a police-recommended traffic study.
