SCITUATE — The Scituate Conservation Commission closed four wetlands hearings and continued a disputed Stockbridge Road housing plan to September 9. Chair Frank Snow led a 5-0 vote closing hearings at 71 Front Street, 232 Country Way, 7 Garfield Street and 0 Surfside Road, each with new orders of conditions. At 90-96 Stockbridge Road, attorney Walter Sullivan and engineer Richard De Benedictus presented a plan reduced from three homes to two, prompting abutter Douglas Calnan to ask why the parcel was "back under review again" after the nearby 50-unit Stockbridge Landing development.
Neighbor Brian Mazmanian raised concerns about tributaries "part of our drinking water system." Commissioners Jen Foley and Penny Scott-Pipes also pressed Morse Engineering for a higher mitigation ratio at 232 Country Way, calling for "two to one" instead of the roughly 1-to-1 proposed. The Stockbridge Road hearing was continued 5-0 to September 9 pending a Lucas Environmental peer review.
