Scituate's Conservation Commission approved a Hatherly Road rebuild on a 5-1 vote and sparred over unpermitted beach pavers. Chair Frank Snow presided as the board issued unanimous Orders of Conditions for septic and addition projects at 102 and 147 Humarock Beach Road and 2 Surfside Road. Commissioner Robbie Burgess cast the lone dissent on the 430 Hatherly Road raze-and-rebuild after a dispute over a mitigation footpath near Musquashcut Pond.
The board also approved, 5-0-1, a negative determination clearing a vandalized Stockbridge Road house for demolition, and voted 6-0 to permit removal of up to 25 diseased beech trees at 10 Village Lane. Commissioner Penny Scott-Pipes told the project engineer she took "great exception" to pavers installed under a raised Rebecca Road home, asking, "What's wrong with the sand?" No vote was taken on the pavers; the commission tabled the matter for further review.
