SCITUATE — The Scituate Planning Board voted unanimously to continue the 7 New Driftway redevelopment hearing to November 12 after the applicant pivoted to a full teardown and rebuild. Project manager John S. Barry told the board the 18-unit plan now requires razing the vacant building to fit added parking and a four-stop elevator, with enclosed spaces rising from eight to 12.
Chair Patricia Lambert pressed engineer Greg Morse of Morse Engineering over the driveway's alignment across from the Jacob Hatch Building, calling nearby traffic "crazy." Town Planner Karen Joseph flagged that underlying traffic counts were taken in summer "without school traffic" and said a 150-foot reservoir buffer will force the applicant to seek Zoning Board of Appeals relief and reroute water service from Country Way. Peer reviewer Mr. Chessia reported the site's roof discharge remains untreated, yielding roughly 47 percent total suspended solids removal.
The board separately approved a $5,030.75 purchase order returning surety for a stormwater permit at 10 Carriage House Way, 4-0.
