SCITUATE -- February 12, 2026, Scituate's Council on Aging logged 446 transportation rides in January and is adding a seventh driver as it rolls out new dispatch software. Transportation Coordinator Laura Emanuel told the board at the February 12 meeting that the center is shifting more rides to its own fleet to cut costs, with fares holding steady at $1.75 one way in town and $10 one way to Boston or the Cape. A new real-time scheduling platform costing $2,500 annually launches February 26. South Shore Elder Services representative Kenzie Vandenbroek reported the program secured a state reimbursement increase to $10.25 per standard meal and $11 for kosher and Asian meals, giving the program flexibility to keep food fresh and expand shelf-stable emergency supplies. Board member Russ Paulin demonstrated an AI tool that generated draft meeting minutes directly from the prior month's YouTube video, prompting the board to explore whether the town's community access TV operation could extend the practice to all municipal boards.
