SCITUATE --

YOUTH LEAGUES -- Scituate Little League is working on a renovation of the field referred to as the "purple dinosaur field" to serve softball for younger players, Planning Board members said at their Oct. 8 meeting. The project has been separated from a related plan to convert the Wampanoag-area field into an additional baseball field, with board members noting that access to the dinosaur field site needs to be worked out because adjacent town-owned land, roughly two and a half acres behind the field, is wet. Board members said the Little League renovation is expected to be paired, for funding purposes, with a Wampanoag PTO request for a new playground, with that group seeking roughly $700,000. Both items are being prepared for consideration at the town meeting warrant; the Planning Board noted the next annual town meeting is scheduled for April 12, 2027, with a special town meeting set for Oct. 19, 2026.

Registration for the Scituate Basketball Association's 2026-27 winter travel season remains open, with tryouts continuing the weeks of Oct. 19 and Oct. 26; players are required to attend both dates for their grade, per the SBA's website.
