SCITUATE — Select Board approves $527,621.87 contract for critical virtual server replacement amid memory chip shortage. IT Director Mike Minchello warned that the town's six-year-old infrastructure lacks sufficient memory capacity to maintain redundancy during maintenance or failure, affecting all police, security, and operational systems town-wide. Memory chip prices escalated from $4,900 to $42,000 per 64-gigabyte unit due to AI data center buildouts; the town had budgeted $350,000 but actual costs exceed $527,000.

The board voted unanimously to approve and authorized a $134,683 transfer from the Solar Array Revolving Fund. Susan J. Harrison was elected Chair; James M.

Gilmore as Vice Chair; and Freya Schlegel as Clerk during the annual reorganization. The board also unanimously adopted an American Legion Post 144 Hometown Heroes banner program to honor eligible veterans, pending incorporation into a broader municipal flags and banners policy.
