SCITUATE — Affordable Housing Trust hears Old Gates School redevelopment proposal. The Scituate board received a presentation on a 63-unit affordable senior housing project at the Old Gates School site, to be developed by Grantham Group. The 32 million dollar project would replace the center block of the existing building with a three-story structure featuring units at 30, 60, and 80 percent of area median income, with projected rents ranging from 850 to 1,828 dollars.
Grantham Group is seeking six million dollars in local funding, two million dollars from the affordable housing trust, four million dollars in state tax credits, and two million dollars in housing innovation funds. Developer Mike Cucchiara indicated a three-to-four-year timeline to construction.
