Library Board approves December minutes, updates on staffing strain and system rollout.

Library Board of Trustees · Meeting of January 12, 2026

Scituate Library Board of Trustees approves December minutes and hears director report on operational challenges ahead. Library Director Jessi Finnie told trustees that minimal staffing — with three to four absences daily last week — is straining operations and limiting the Library's ability to manage volunteer demand. A new Integrated Library System rolls out in April; staff will complete five to ten training sessions each.

A December 19 generator failure prevented power transfer to the building following an outage, leaving patron computers offline. Gas costs have exceeded budget projections due to years of inaccurate billing; if unfunded, the matter goes to Town Meeting.
