Affordable Housing Trust defers 2026 grant program pending town vote
Affordable Housing Trust · Meeting of February 18, 2026
Scituate's Affordable Housing Trust defers 2026 grant program pending Town Meeting approval. Chair Stephen Irish and members Elizabeth Howie and Coleman Smith received an update from Administrative Assistant Shari Young on the 2025 Small Repairs Grant Program, which distributed $26,642 in grants. The program returned $7,690.33 in unused funds after one recipient failed to fulfill their obligation.
The Trust will finalize the 2026 program plan only after the Town Meeting vote is secured. The Trust also discussed the Old Gates project, a 63-unit senior housing development estimated to cost $20 million to $30 million, which would require combination Community Preservation Committee and borrowed town funding.
